Let's talk lingerie...
One thing that can make or break a shoot is how well your lingerie fits. When was the last time you were measured for a bra? We're betting between 2 and 5 years ago. We are all guilty of letting certain elements of our beauty routines slip, but this one is key before you purchase lingerie for your shoot.
A well fitting bra can make you look like you’ve had a boob job in seconds. It creates the illusion of looking taller, slimmer and having a more defined waistline. If you're planning on purchasing new lingerie for your shoot, a bra fitting is a must! They will also be able to give you advice on the best shape of underwear to flatter your bust and bum!
Plan 3-5 different outfits. Anything from matching lingerie sets or sports wear to lace robes and bodysuits. We recommend trying everything on before you come into the studio. This way you can perfect each look with jewellery and accessories and ensure that your bra and suspender straps are the correct length.
Change your shoes... change your life
When you're putting your outfits together, don't forget the most important element - Shoes! Here at Femme Fatale we're not afraid of heights and we always think bigger is better. High heels go a long way to make you look and feel sexy. When you wear heels, your posture naturally changes... you push your chest out, shoulders go back, your back arches, your bum and hips 'pop' and your knees bend. This posture create beautiful curves and lines that scream sexy! Please bring heels that are 3 inches or higher for best results.
Prepare with a pamper
We have the hair and make up covered but it's the little things that go a long way towards making you feel like a queen. Here's a some things you can do before your shoot to make you confident and glamorous...
Face
Exfoliate For youthful glowing skin exfoliate your face and body before your shoot. We recommend doing this several times in the run up to your shoot but be sure to leave a couple of days in between scrubbings and be gentle!
Get a facial it's the perfect excuse! Why not? You're already having some 'me' time so you may as well go all out. Or if the purse strings are tight, try one at home and enjoy a bottle of wine while you're at it.
Brows Whether you do them yourself or leave it to the professionals, make sure they're plucked to perfection a few days before your shoot.
Hair
Check your roots If you colour your hair, be sure to touch up your regrowth before your shoot. Dark roots are very prominent under studio lighting.
Have a trim Book in a trim with your hairdresser to make your hair look it's healthiest. It can knock years off you and just a small trim can make a huge difference.
Body
Hands If a manicure is your thing then be sure to get your nails done before your shoot. If that's not your thing then just make sure your nails are clean and filed.
Wax or shave If you go with waxing, give yourself a couple of days before the shoot so your skin can heal. Shaving can be done the night before. Be sure to get your legs and underarm and bikini area as well.
Tan If you usually tan your skin then be sure to schedule your appointment a few days before your shoot. Please don't tan your skin if it isn't part of your usual routine. Any number of things could go wrong and you may not like the results. We recommend embracing pale skin, it's beautiful.
On the day of your shoot
Make sure you tick all these boxes before you leave home to come to the studio:
You have no make up on
You have clean, dry hair
You have 3-5 different outfit changes and lingerie that fits
You have neat nails and brows
